It’s the spooky day. May as well scare myself
Update: 130ish across all cylinders while cold with only a couple Psi fluctuation that was basically indistinguishable on the gauge.
Plugs also seem fine. A little bit of white on them but nothing too bad

Jokes on you, first you have to get the spark plug out, and we know that’s no cake walk on an Impreza.

At this point I have done it so many times it takes me maybe 30 minutes to get them all out.

Loosen engine mounts? And that upper trans stabilizer? U
se a jack to move the engine from side
to side?

Oh god no. Remove air box and washer fluid reservoir like usual and then it’s all about having the right size extensions and ratchets to work in that tight area. You can’t really go any longer than these to get the coil pack bolts off

You have SOHC? With the DOHC, I imagine you have to move the engine around
. The plugs go straight
into the frame rails. I never removed the spark plugs on my old Forester (except when the engine was out
)
but always got depressed
looking at the room available
.

It’s DOHC. It’s very tight but there is just enough room to work. Having small hands helps. I just put the air box back in, passenger side has more room. This is the driver side with battery in but no windshield fluid reservoir in

huh. ok then. Learned something useless since my Forester has been junked. :(
When you first posted, I thought your compression was reading “
0" and “this guy has a problem”
!

Ha it’s certainly not an easy job, I think the first time I did it took a better part of a day but I’ve done it enough that I have it down to a science of knowing when to get the ratchet off before it’s too tight to the frame rail. I was going to move the actual compression photo up on the update but mobile on kinja is hell
